January, in photos:
| An end of year brunch club meet-up |
| Happy to be reunited with Rachel, Abe and kids on their visit back to Amsterdam. |
| Oma and Opa returned from 2 days in Brussels with MK&A and we headed into the city for the Amsterdam Light Festival and pizza dinner. |
| The theme this year was "Loading" and the intersection of AI/technology and society. |
| Sad, but so true. Hoping to keep phones out of these kids' hands as long as possible! |
| She's so pretty at night! |
| Winter walks |
| The Tallest Man on Earth with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta- Incredible! |
No
big bash for my birthday this year, but a few smaller celebrations with some friends:
| Birthday brunch at Staring at Jacob- can't believe I hadn't made it here before |
| Holy Moly pizza truck back for dinner |
| Pete and the kids pulled off my request of an ice cream cake! |
Taco dinner in the city with Pete at the new La Condensa Taqueria- delicious! And a wet bakfiets ride to see more of the light festival.
| Mean Girls with the book club crew |
And then, snow! The temps dropped low enough for it to stick around for a few days, but not long enough for the canals to freeze sadly.
A field trip with Jude's class to the COBRA museum. We walked/slid from school on the ice-covered sidewalks.
| I can't say I am a fan of the COBRA movement, but it was interesting to learn about. A sudden snow shower during the visit was an extra treat. |
| Maeve had a final sleepover playdate with Alicia and Neta before Alicia moved away :( |
We had a long-awaited visit with our friends in Stockholm after a few failed attempts due to illnesses in the fall.
It took the kids a little while to warm up, but then they were fast friends again.
| Dance party |
| A visit to the Pancake house in the Bos |
| We had impromptu drinks with friends and the evening got late for these little 3-year-olds. Jude was in heaven with his two little pals asleep on him. |
| Heading into the city. |
| For a drawing workshop at the Rijks Museum. |
| And then outrageous milkshakes at the Corner Bakery |
| Maeve and I get time every day to practice the violin together and while some frustration is normal, it has been a joy to see her take to the instrument. |
| Visiting Jude's art exhibit and so impressed by his work and theme. Also equally impressed with the boy's work next to him- a new Russian student who made a peace sign with the Ukrainian flag and wrote a message speaking out against the war. |
Maeve got called up quickly to swim for her B diploma.
| Urban arrowing to Alicia's going away party |
| A crafty afternoon with some ISA ladies and the girls. |
