Thursday was an all around beautiful day on the Amalfi Coast. We were out the door in time to catch the 10am ferry to Amalfi, another coastal town 20-30 minutes away from Positano. Even some time for the kids to play on the deserted beach before we left.

Once we docked in Amalfi, Pete went ahead to find out about buses us to Ravello, a highly recommended town in the hills above Amalfi. We caught one of the large buses just as it was leaving and some kind tourists gave up their seats so I could sit with the kids. We winded up, up, up. A bit of a nauseating ride for the standing adults!
Ravello has some beautiful old villas with even more beautiful gardens, with views out to the water. We took our time exploring Villa Rufolo, wishing we were there in the summer months when they host music performances in this stunning venue.

The town's main square is large, pedestrian-only and features a number of outdoor cafes, the town church and views over the hills. We found a little soccer ball for sale and let the kids run a bit while they waited for their pizza.

After lunch we walked to Villa Cimbrone, which is now a luxury hotel, but you can pay to enter the gardens. The hike was up out of town and with the stroller we took advantage of the tiny ramps on the narrow streets meant for the golf car size trucks that use the route.

We walked back into town and waited with the masses for the bus ride back to Amalfi.
We did not spend much time in Amalfi as we wanted to catch a ferry in time to get home for the kids' dinner. We did walk around a bit and admire the church's mosaic exterior. Nana toured the inside as well. Then we got a yummy lemon sorbet topped with fresh strawberries to enjoy on the ferry ride home.

When we arrived back to Positano, it was not the same place we'd left! The beach was busy with sunbathers enjoying the warm afternoon. The weather app never showed the temperature going above 65 degrees, but it felt like the mid to upper 70s those last days of our trip.
Pete had felt a cold coming on in the beginning of our trip and was experiencing ear pain. After my parents returned from dinner, it was our turn to go out so he rallied after some at home treatment :)

We hadn't made reservations anywhere and just headed up the street towards some recommended restaurants. It was dark out and there was a full, bright moon. We saw a restaurant with a terrace overlooking the water and town and grabbed a table! I couldn't help but sing the song: "When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore!" Some seafood risotto and the lemon cream cake for dessert, watching the light of the moon sparkle on the water. It was magic and reminded me of the feeling of seeing the
sunset in Santorini. I asked Pete where my fireworks were (the only thing that would have made the scene more Bachelor-worthy). Later, when we returned to our apartment, I could hear fireworks and looked out our balcony to see part of a show over the beach! If only we'd stayed longer up the hill!
