Festival Season

Not ones to miss a festival, we have been trying taking advantage of Amsterdam's thriving scene! Grachtenfestival showcased music along the canals for over a week earlier in August. My attempts to go to one concert midweek were foiled by rain and a crying baby. The main event was broadcast on Dutch TV so we got to watch it live. Boats packed Prinsengracht canal while a small orchestra accompanied a very talented Georgian (the country) violinist. The final song had everyone waving Amsterdam flags and signing along so it must have been some local anthem. Last weekend was a jazz festival in Amstelveen Village. This past weekend was UitMarkt, the opening of the cultural season in Amsterdam on Museumplein. Pete's cousin, Jessie, will be studying abroad at the University of Amsterdam this semester and arrived this past week. We finally got to see her at the festival and she got to meet and cuddle with Jude!
