Between all of the sightseeing, we worked in some days to just stay in our sweet little town. On Wednesday, we rode out the hottest day of the week at the beach, leaving our things camped out all day at high tide, stopping for lunch at the beach cafe, nap and pool time at home and then more evening beach time.

This is a beach kids club where you can leave your kids under supervision for 3 hours in the morning or afternoon for around $15. Genius, though we didn't take advantage.

Or slide, depending on which way you look at it.
The picture perfect scene before the "great lunchtime tantrum" (perhaps heat induced), which resulted with hot dogs being thrown to the sandy ground and dirty looks from being thrown our way by wait staff! Thank goodness for Rose!
Jude's swimming really took off this trip. He started the week safely floating in his inner tube and worked his way up to jumping in without it and swimming back and forth short distances from our arms to the wall. It was great to see his confidence with his new skills. We have great momentum to begin his swim lessons at the end of the month!

After a beautiful week we were due for a cloudy day. We stayed in St. Lu to take advantage of kid friendly activities: mini golf in the morning and the circus in the afternoon!

The traveling circus was in town for two days. We didn't know what to expect, but decided to give it a try! The kids were really excited and the show mostly captured their attention for the full 2 hours. Jude loves telling stories of the acts that fascinated him- the lady who disappeared inside the box with swords! The box that was empty, but then a person appeared! I loved seeing their amazement.

Amazed by the mermaid girl!
|
No animals in the show except for these trained cats
Our last day ended with a date night for Pete and I at the very popular local bistro, where we finally managed to get a reservation and fill ourselves with French seafood yumminess. This has been a very glutinous summer indeed!
