The last adventure of our trip was a stop in Lugwigsburg, Germany to visit the World's Largest Pumpkin Exhibit on the grounds of the town palace. Old Amsterdam friends who have moved to Stuttgart joined us for the fun.
| Rainy Saturday morning market. Made a stop of delicious German pastries for breakfast. |
| The theme of the festival was "At the Movies." |
| We hadn't seen Esra, Hormoz, Nurray and Anis since our 2021 Fall break when we stopped to see them in Germany en route to Austria. |
| Scared pumpkins. This cracked me up! |
| The grounds also had a mini amusement park with some rides and fairy tale houses. We had a traditional lunch of bratwurst and tried some pumpkin specialties. Then it was time to hit the road, homebound. Pete was our driving hero, navigating us safely home after some very long drives! |
The benefits of euro road tripping: the ability to bring home all of the loot!
| The Italian haul including 16 bottles of wine and fresh truffle ravioli. |
| The German haul: lots of beer for Pete and tons of peppermint patties for me ;) |
And the cross stitch project that I did on the drives ;) Inspired by seeing this in a bathroom in a restaurant on
an island in Sweden.
