Last weekend was the first legit summer weekend we've had since we've been back. We heard the whole summer was a wash, which made us feel good about spending the majority of time away! So when the sun was shinning and the temps were warm, we made some last minute plans and went to a little kid amusement park, Oude Valkeveen, on Saturday with one of Pete's coworkers and family. The kids were too small for most of the rides, but the playgrounds and little kiddie show were great. So much to do for the value price of $10 a ticket. We love learning about these little hidden gems.
I was bummed that we hadn't made it to the Dutch beaches yet this summer so we jumped at friends' invitation to go Sunday morning to Katwijk aan zee. It was perfection! We arrived just before 10am and parked right on the beach boulevard (for free on Sundays) and strolled to the wide, gorgeous, uncrowded beach. All of this just 35 minutes from home. It amazes me every time! The kids had a great time and Maeve didn't eat that much sand. We are getting in as much QT with the Keatings as possible before they leave us later this fall. We had lunch at the standard Dutch beach cafe before hitting the road with two tired kids!
