Oma and Opa got to experience their first King's Day with us this year. That added to the excitement for us as well, when we were otherwise not feeling very festive. We dutifully donned our orange and cycled over to our old neighborhood in the morning, where Amstelveen's main festivities are located. Maeve wanted every toy for sale, which made the morning a bit challenging. Jude wanted to play all of the kid run games, which is my favorite part. The kids help each other to win and build each other up.
Our friends Brad and Audra told us how they were going to go to Paris for King's Day weekend while Brad's parents stayed home with their daughter. Well didn't that sound nice! Pete ran the idea by Oma and Opa and they said they'd love to stay with the kids. So Pete and I headed out on an afternoon train to Paris leaving the kiddos in Oma and Opa's capable, loving hands.
