Spring Visitors!

You all know we love us some visitors! We've enjoyed seeing some familiar faces over here in the Netherlands these past two months! 

Childhood soccer friend Emilie has been living with her family in Germany for the past few years and the stars aligned for us to see each other again after 18 (?!) years on a beautiful, sunny day in Amsterdam. Brad and Audra generously offered us all a boat ride and who can say no to that!? 

We stopped off for treats along the way. 

Second cousin Stefan is the drummer for The Devil Makes Three and came through Utrecht on their European tour. We loved catching up over dinner and hearing their music for the first time (we didn't realize that Dutch people do mosh pits!).

Stefan's wife Zara hooked us up with sold out tickets to Lake Street Dive the night before The Devil Makes Three concert. We love our music connections! Great show as well and made us feel like we were back in Brooklyn for the night! 

And surprise visits may be the best. Karin and Allen (who were last in Amsterdam right after we moved here almost 5 years ago) had a one day stop off on a cruise. They thought they would be coming the following weekend when we would be away so imagine my surprise to see the message on Sunday that they were here! Of course we had to see them so we met on Museumplein on Liberation day. A too short visit after seeing so much of them this summer when the generously gave us their apartment in Portland. 

While Amsterdam is trying to dissuade tourists from coming here (true story from the NYT yesterday!), we would welcome any of you anytime :)
