Fall 2021 Happenings

We've had one busy, fun fall over here! The kids are off to a great start in Kindergarten and 2nd grade. Maeve's class moved up together so she is with all of her besties. Jude's two good friends moved last year, but he's back with some other friends and has a male teacher for the first time, which we're pleased about. Kids were all back full time by late August and as of the end of September, there is no mask requirement for anyone (teachers, students of any age) and parents are allowed back into the building! When I came in for the kids' settling-in conferences, it was a surreal moment. I hadn't been in the building since March 2020 and it is a place where I have spent so much time these past 7 years. It felt so good to be back and I just hope things remain open as our cases have begun to soar here once again :(

Baseball games were back on. Pete continued to coach Wednesdays and Saturdays. He was the designated pitcher for a few games, which did a number on his arm!

There were birthday parties, young....

and old (er).

Maeve's first solo sleepover with her sweet friend Luisa.

Visiting heather fields outside of Hilversum.

Lots of blackberry bushes

We've learned that offering gum as "energy" will help the kids along when their little legs get tired.

Revisiting Kasteel Keukenhof with Sharon to see their beautiful dahlias in bloom.

Kayaking in the bos with Christie and Sharon on a sunny Thursday.

Attempting to make apple cider donuts without apple cider or a donut pan. Our apple juice muffins were still pretty delicious!

A fun-filled going away party, befitting of Elly, the fun-loving Aussie. A beautiful night for cruising through the canals, dancing along to the silent disco. Every detail was thought of: open bar, food spread, Summer Friday cookie cakes, and a stop along the way to pick up hot frites. Total perfection. You will be missed, Elly! I suffered the next day, but it was worth it.

Dancing on a boat, cruising the beautiful canals of Amsterdam.

I powered through my hangover to meet Hannah at the Amsterdam fashion exhibit at the Nieuwkerk. The train on Queen Maxima's wedding veil was something else!

Kids on school photo day. We'll see if their smiles were as nice in the photos!
