After we'd planned our road trip, Pete's family decided to come to join us for Christmas! Matt, Krista, and Addy decided to make a big trip of it, visiting Paris first and ending in Brussels. We invited them to meet us in the Alsace and they were on board! We'd already booked a place, but they found an apartment down the street.

Colmar is the birthplace of the Auguste Batholdi, the sculpture of the Statue of Liberty so this greeted us on our approach.
We visited Colmar in the fall of 2016 when the kids were so cute and little! I was really excited to see this fairy tale town again, and all decked out for Christmas. We joined up with MKA and started to explore town! We stopped at a wine stand for refreshments and realized it was the winery where we'd stayed 7 years ago! We walked to the riverfront where there was a big Ferris wheel and a gourmet food market. There were some other little rides for kids and kept everyone entertained for a while. |

We saw more of Colmar over the next two days when we were on our way to and from other markets in the neighboring towns.

One evening we left Jude in charge of babysitting and went out to eat around the corner at La Chevre Qui Rit (the laughing goat), which was really yummy.
