We had one final euro summer adventure at the beginning of August before Pete started back at school. We drove to visit Sandi, Brett, Blake, and Zoe in Austria! They relocated there last summer and we were excited to get a glimpse into their new life in Linz, located about halfway between Vienna and Salzburg.
We broke up the drive by stopping in Sommerhausen, Germany, a cute Bavarian village along the Main River for the night. "Sommer" it was not, but the rain held off enough to walk around town before dinner at the B&B. The town is located in the Franconian wine region and we were happy to sample a number of local varieties with our typical, hearty German fare.

| It wouldn't be a Durney road trip without a stop at a foreign McDonalds! |
 |
| It was an old, walled market town and we had fun finding the towers and houses built into the old walls. |
