It Ain't All Sunshine and Rainbows

Lest you think that everything is picture perfect over here in the Netherlands, rest assured we all have our days. Like the day when I sat on and broke Pete's glasses (yesterday). Or when your bathroom cleaning product contains bleach without your knowledge because it is in Dutch and you ruin the towels you had shipped from home (also yesterday). Or when your baby cuts his second tooth at 4 1/2 months and wails through the night (also yesterday). Or when your husband's wallet falls out of his pocket cycling and while the wallet was returned by the police all cards intact, 20-40 euro is missing (let's pretend it was 20) (today). Or when you are taking the bus home and the stop button you push is broken and the bus passes your stop and you have an extra 10 minutes to walk home, in the pouring rain, with the baby in the stroller (also today).

Pete heard today that this is the worst August weather-wise in the past 30 years?! Our heat kicked on two nights ago (also the heated towel rack in the bathroom!). It has been downright frigid at night. Hot, summer New York nights seem like a distant memory! As I write this, the sun is out again, but the wind is howling. Here's to a better few days!
Rain on yesterday's canal boat tour with Opa and Oma.
