Les Houches with Cathy and Dave

On Tuesday, Oma and Opa decided to have a short ski day near town and offered to pick the kids up from ski school so that we could travel further afield with Dave and Cathy. We took a very crowded ski bus to Les Houches and waited patiently to board a gondola to the top. Once up the mountain, the crowds dispersed and we had a great day exploring the ski area. It was spring skiing temps and the final run of the day, from our lunch spot all the way down the mountain to the bus stop, was rather slushy in places. But the sunshine was so glorious!
Fog lifting off in the valley

With Mont Blanc, France's highest mountain

There was a ski race zone where you could be timed going through the slaloms. Pete tried it twice and we cheered him on!

It took a lot searching, but we finally found a mountaintop chalet for lunch and waited for a table in the sun. We had a direct view of Mont Blanc and wonderful company!

Melted cheese, potatoes, and French red wine never tasted so good.

Fueled up and ready to head down to the mountain!
