Lovely Lake Annecy

We spent all day exploring the town of Annecy, starting with the playground behind one of the cathedrals.
We'd hoped to walk through the charming downtown before it got too crowded. Too late. This popular spot is busy 24/7 all summer it seems.

The town is known for its colorful buildings and turquoise canals. Definitely had some Venetian vibes.

Lots of archways and narrow streets to explore

We walked along the lakefront to investigate the boat rental options before stopping in another playground and then going home for lunch and some downtime.

After a little rest, we rented a paddle boat with a slide and ventured into the lake with the throngs of others doing the same. The water felt so nice! We spent a fun hour sliding and swimming.

Then it was back into town for ice cream and a walk up to the castle.

This section of the canal was shallow

After dinner, we walked over a mile along the waterfront to Plage d'Albigny, where there was a free children's circus performer. The kids were thoroughly entertained, though I feared for this man's life with the tricks he was doing!

Cool benches you can wade out to.
