Quick Stop in Gordes, Provence

Our rental on the coast was Saturday to Saturday like most others. We were originally going to stay in Lake Annecy until Saturday morning and then make the 5 hour drive South. Black Saturday traffic reports scared me into checking out on Friday and driving as far as Provence for the night to cut out a lot of the trip for the final leg. Plus, we were excited about a side trip to Provence! I'd always wanted to see the lavender fields in bloom, but knew we were likely too late. I still needed to see for myself so our first stop was the Lavender Museum. Dried fields, but they sold us hard in the gift shop about the benefits of lavender oil. Jude was amazed!

The kids knew that our hotel for the night had a pool so they were less than thrilled when we told them we were first going to the hill town, Gordes. It was too early to check in, so we didn't get them a choice. It was a really pretty town so I'm glad we went at least!

She sure was pretty!

We found the playground

We were near the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque, which is a famed stop on the lavender trail. I didn't expect the fields to still be in bloom, but wanted to make the short detour anyway. The lavender had been harvested and the bundles were lying in the fields. It smelled amazing!

Finally at the hotel with happy kids at the pool!

We had dinner at a nearby lake side cafe
